The Florida Maternal and Infant Health Crisis, a report by Miami Law’s Human Rights Clinic and the Florida Health Justice Project.
This report provides a human-rights analysis of Florida’s maternal and infant health crisis and human-rights based
recommendations to improve maternal and infant health. It focuses on three critical solutions:
1) Medicaid Expansion,
2) Florida’s Family Planning Waiver Program, and
3) Midwives and Doulas.
The report advocates for an evidence-based, holistic, and intersectional approach that considers how race, gender, and other identities converge, leading to disparate outcomes for marginalized or underserved individuals. We hope that this report will serve as a useful reference point for advocates and policymakers concerned about Florida’s maternal and infant health.
Florida Health Justice Project engages in comprehensive advocacy to expand health care access and promote health equity for vulnerable Floridians.
