Nicole is our team’s Social Worker and Community Health Specialist. Before joining the Florida Health Justice Project, she spent over a decade working in South Florida’s nonprofit hospital systems. Her personal experiences navigating complex health systems fuel her passion for advocacy and strengthen her commitment to advancing health equity.
Known for her empathy, reliability, and strong sense of responsibility to the people and communities she serves, Nicole focuses on Medicaid advocacy, community outreach, and public education efforts to help reduce barriers and expand access to care. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and local partners to provide training and education on current health policies and issues.
With master’s degrees in Social Work and Public Health from FIU, Nicole’s academic training is grounded in a deep commitment to community and care. She is Certified in Public Health (CPH) and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®). Additionally, Nicole recently became a birth justice doula, where she supports mothers through education, advocacy, and culturally responsive guidance, centering their autonomy and lived experiences. She believes that when families have access to clear information and meaningful support, they are better able to navigate systems and achieve healthier outcomes. This perspective shapes her work at the Florida Health Justice Project, where she is dedicated to advancing health equity through community education, partnership, and advocacy.
