Leigh Markowitz

Leigh Cremer Markowitz is the Managing Attorney on the Community and HealthcareServices team at Disability Rights Florida (DRF). She is a dedicated attorney and legaleducator with a strong commitment to public interest law, specializing in disability rights,with a side passion for animal law and environmental policy. Before working at DRF,Leigh served as a Staff Attorney Fellow at Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU)Shepard Broad College of Law’s Disability Inclusion and Advocacy Law (DIAL) Clinic,where she practiced disability rights law and supervised clinical students in their legaltraining. In addition to her work at the DIAL Clinic, Leigh also taught as an AdjunctProfessor. Prior to that role, Leigh served as a Law Clerk for the Florida Fourth DistrictCourt of Appeal.Leigh’s passion for advocacy was cultivated during her time at Duke University Schoolof Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor. At Duke, Leigh was a student attorney in theEnvironmental Law and Policy Clinic and received multiple accolades, including theClinic Advocacy Award and the Environmental Law Award. Leigh also held internshipsand externships with various nonprofit organizations.
