In Florida, immigrant Medicaid crackdown ensnares eligible families
A new Florida Trib investigation reports that Florida’s implementation of federal Medicaid restrictions for immigrants is causing eligible families to lose coverage because of administrative errors, confusing notices, and inadequate communication from the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). The Florida Health Justice Project has documented erroneous terminations affecting children and other eligible individuals, including lawful immigrants whose circumstances may still qualify them for benefits. These disruptions leave families facing significant medical expenses, interrupted treatment, and uncertainty about how or whether to appeal denials.
