Florida spent years arguing that it could not fix confusing Medicaid termination notices that left recipients unable to understand why they were losing coverage or how to appeal. Yet after a federal court ordered the state to make changes, nearly one million revised notices were sent within months. This article provides an update on the court-ordered changes from Florida Health Justice Project, who, together with the National Health Law Project, initiated the lawsuit that resulted in the federal court order. The corrective notices are a hopeful sign of progress, but significant problems with the Medicaid notices remain.
