The 5th Edition of the Advocate’s Guide to the Florida Long-Term Care Medicaid Waiver provides a roadmap to the complex Medicaid program providing home and community-based services (HCBS) for elderly and disabled Floridians who require significant assistance with the basic activities of daily living. This program, known as the “LTC Waiver,” provides an alternative to nursing facility care for eligible individuals.
The Guide includes an overview of the authority governing Florida’s Medicaid long-term care (LTC) waiver and addresses basic questions including: who is eligible; how to apply; what to do if an application is denied or delayed; how the waitlist works; what to do if services are denied, delayed, terminated or reduced. Additionally, the guide served as the basis for a consumer-focused video and online portal titled Florida’s Medicaid Long-Term Care Home and Community Based Services (HCBS): Navigating the Program.
The 5th Edition of the Guide is available as a PDF download, and an online version will be provided shortly.
Florida Health Justice Project engages in comprehensive advocacy to expand health care access and promote health equity for vulnerable Floridians.
