Some low-income Medicare beneficiaries are also eligible for full Medicaid coverage or cost savings through a Medicare Savings Program (QMB, SLMB, QI-1). The interaction between Medicare and Medicaid coverage can be complicated. Medicaid provides health insurance to nearly all children in foster care and those aging out of foster care. Under normal Medicaid rules, children living in Florida who were in foster care and enrolled in Medicaid when they turned 18 (or “aged out”) are eligible for Medicaid until they turn 26. We have advocated with the state’s Medicaid agency to ensure compliance with these rules. And when an individual is wrongly denied coverage to which they are entitled, […] - [Maternal Health Resources](https://floridahealthjustice.org/maternal-health-resources/): Maternal Health Florida Medicaid plays a critical role in supporting maternal health by providing comprehensive coverage for eligible pregnant and postpartum women. Medicaid covers over 40% of births statewide, ensuring access to essential services for expectant and new mothers, including prenatal visits, labor and delivery, postpartum care, mental health support, and substance use treatment. We successfully advocated for Florida to extend its postpartum Medicaid coverage from two months to 12 months.
