Eleventh Circuit Update in Florida Medicaid Notice Case

The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Florida must stop terminating people’s Medicaid health coverage while a legal case plays out in court. The ruling stems from an earlier court decision in Chianne D. v. Harris, brought by Florida Health Justice Project and the National Health Law Program, that found Florida was violating Medicaid enrollees’ constitutional rights by sending inadequate notices to people before ending their coverage. The appeals court refused Florida’s request to put that earlier ruling on hold.
